” All Detachment Officers, elected and appointed should have a report ready. A “No Report” should not be accepted.” All Commandants, their representatives, should have a report at all Detachment Meetings and be distributed.
We are getting close to meeting our goals for the renovation of our detachment (roof, parking lot, and building repairs). Still, there’s much to be done so keep the donations coming. We are grateful for the support from the community and valued stakeholders.I was privileged to receive the Spirit of Detroit, medal on behalf of MCL Detachment #158 at the recent breakfast presented by Councilman Gabe Leland District 7.
Thanks again Councilman Leland from the member’s Detachment # 158.
EASTERN ZONE NEWS Spring -2017 Communications Between Marine Detachments in The Eastern Zone
Eastern Zone Jerry McKeon: There was a good showing of Eastern Zone Detachment officers at the January Winter Rally in Bay City. Commandants Bill King from the Northwest Detachment, Lamar Harrington representing Montford Point and Christine Tonegatto-Salo with the Macomb Detachment attended along with Paymasters Don Lumsden and Junior Past Commandant Tim McGee of Cpl Stanly L. Moore. Also, Paymasters Gil Dysarczyk, from North Oakland and Mark Sutton of the Northwest Detachment attended.
For most attending these meetings, expenses are not fully covered by the Detachment – you may want to take the time to thank them for their commitment to your Detachment. Eastern Zone Detachment Commandants For Year 2016/2017

Department Junior Vice Commandant Jon VanTol: To Commandants and Paymasters:
A potential problem with the membership rosters;
At least through September 1, 2017, the National offices will NOT send renewal notices to members with annual dues expiring through September 1st; this date is also the future renewal date for everyone. Commandants and Paymasters are asked to download the page(s) with your detachment information and follow-up with members past due or with dues coming due before June 1, 2017. In 2017, if a member’s dues fall after June 1, they are only responsible for only one year’s dues and will then be paid through September 1, 2018.
The Marine’s Prayer
“Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones, and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family.
Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my Country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.
If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me the courage to try again.
Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.”
